Speaking of the weekend, I saw 'Yes Man' starring Jim Carrey at the
the cinema on Saturday. If you haven't seen the movie, its about a guy
who constantly says "No" to every big and small opportunity that knocks
on his door. I mean it was really sad to see this guy pass up on
opportunities to enjoy and increase the quality of his life.

Anyway that all changed after he attends a seminar that encourages
him to say "Yes" to every opportunity or request put to him. As you
can imagine, this leads to a rollercoaster of comic events as Jim
Carrey embraces every good, bad and some very ugly requests that
come his way.

After watching the film, I found myself thinking how Jim Carrey's
character represents a peculiar struggle we all deal with..

How many times have you turned down the opportunity to do
something NEW because you were either afraid, it didn't fit with
your normal routine, it seemed outside your comfort zone, strangers
or a strange place were involved, you didn't have all the facts...

I mean the list is endless. However the emotional, financial and physical

NEW things. trust me, if anyone had told me 5 years ago that I
would be a luxury designer retailer...and be loving it, I would have
warned them to stop drinking expired coffee.

But today that's what I am (amongst other things) and I'm LOVING it.
I chose to try something NEW and its opened the door to many new
opportunities and relationships. Its also allowed me to discover a side
of myself I didn't know existed.

Try something new today. Something NEW doesn't have to be a mammoth
event like running the marathon. It could be something as simple as
having a different sandwich during lunch time, dedicating an extra hour to
your loved ones each week, treating yourself to something special, calling
an old friend or saying "YES" to the next opportunity that comes your way.
